North to Alaska! But glad to be home.

Our first glimpse of Alaska.  It was SOOOOO Beautiful.  This was Katchican Alaska.  Very charming.
Our First Eagle sighting of MANY....they were everywhere.  They are really regal.
We did a Rainforest nature walk.  This beautiful lady was injured and at the Raptor Center.  She had to have one of her wings amputated, but they are taking wonderful care of her there.
This is an injured Great Horned Owl.  We are actually only about 18 inches from her.  She was AWESOME.
Dave feeding the REINDEER lettuce.  They loved it.  They even let us pet their antlers.  They were warm and very fuzzy.   They are not actually native to Alaska.  The lady that runs the raptor center is taking care of 5 of the reindeer.
This is a pile of BEAR skat!  Right in the middle of a HUMAN trail.  We saw LOTS of signs of BEAR but luckily no BEAR.  Our guide was very good about counting and recounting to make sure we were all there.  We did have to hike in a small group of 10 and stick together.  Bears.....dont see very well.
Tracy Arm Fjord.  OH MY GOSH....it was so Beautiful.  It too us about 4 hours to sail in and out.   Icy!!
Here is the Glacier at the end of the Fjord.  It was BIG, ICY and BLUE.  We  did see an occasional otter swimming around.
Here is a view from the HELICOPTER ride.   Way out of my box ladies......Dave got to sit in the FRONT seat.  I was good with the back seat thank you......
A Beautiful stream at Liarsville.  Liarsville is the beginning of the Yukon trail up to the gold fields.  We panned for gold here.  This is were all of the news paper people stayed as they did not want to make the trek up the "Dead Horse Pass" into theYukon.
This is a photo of the FRONT of the train while we were on the back of the train.  The scenery was stunning.
Dave road our on the platform the WHOLE trip.  Oh...I saw a Black Bear on the way up!!  The last two photos are in Victoria, Brittish Columbia.  The first is of Craigdarroch Castle and the second in the Brochart Gardens.  Both were Fabulous!!  You know how we love OLD stuff.

Sad Day in Deerland...........Farewell my faithful friends.

Hello Friends.  This is not going to be an easy post for any of us.  For those of you who come out to Deerland, you know that we have Four (yes Four) pugs.  Three boys, one girl......Sammy is 12 1/2, Kuji is 6, Joey is 4 and Mags is 1 1/2.  Today we had to say good by to two of our faithful companions.....Not one but two.....No dog owner should ever loose two in one day.  My heart is heavy as I type.  Grief consumes me.  My heart is broken.  As you know Sammy has been sick for some time.  It was his time and we are sure that it was the right thing to do.  He is happy, running and playing with Kyla in Pug Heaven right now.  Kuji's passing was quite unexpected.  Three years ago when we adopted him, he had a malignant tumor on his right back leg.  We elected then to have it removed and hope for the best.  Well, we had three WONDERFUL years.  Last week, our little guy just wasnt behaving like himself and even stopped playing with Mags......his playful buddy.  Eating was not first on his agenda and often he was getting sick after eating.   Tuesday night he had a siezure and I was up all night with hm.  Went to see the Doctor (our Fabulous Doctor) for a look over.  Well.....we lost on the time clock.  The cancer was back and it effected his, stomach, liver, spleen and possibly his brain.  Our doctor said that he would not survive the week as sick as he was.  The right thing to do was to make it so he was in no pain no matter how much pain we felt.    He was so sweet and brave.  So friends.....say a little prayer for my faithful companions.  They are both in a better place without pain and sickness.

Big Shot Class for May......Flashy projects

The card we did was Absolutely Beautiful.  We used the new Flower Garden Embossing Folder, with LOTS of shimmer paint, embossing powder and ink.....turned out awesome.  We did sweet little treat boxes with the Petal Cone die,  (altered of course),  Butterfly easel cards and cute Bird House ornaments for the stick tree with the milk carton die.  SWEET!  Hope to see you next month for Big Shot Class, this is one we do EVERY month.  Next month join us on the 10th of June.

May Technique Class was a hit!!

This month we tried our hand at making "Fabric" Flowers with a Big Shot,  Faux Mother of Pearl with Shimmer paint,  "Ribbon" Flowers with sticky pages and ribbon and Soot Stamping.   Have to say....that beautiful new ship in the stamp set "The Open Sea"  is PERFECT for Soot Stamping!   We tried several types of ribbon on our ribbon flowers,  some liked the satin, some liked the seam binding, some like the wide grossgrain....but it does take some patience.....Enjoy your Mothers Day......and Happy Stamping.
